180 Carat Gold

I've never tried these on since I bought them in late 2006 and I wore them for the first time a couple of hours ago. It took me a while to decide but I'm finally unleashing them beasts out today.

Watch out.

As far as I know, I don't think anyone else has these Euro exclusives here in Manila. I can be wrong but I seriously doubt it.

Space Jam in Manila

December 23, 2009. 12 noon. Nike Park Bonifacio High Street.

This was, by far, the craziest shoe release I've gone to. Shoeheads and hakots lined up as early as 5 days before release day.

Congratulations to those who got their pairs by lining up, getting/paying someone to line up for you, or via the raffle.

They say it's all fair in love and war, and it works just the same for the sneaker game.

Six years on NT

Today I mark my 6th year on NT. Wow, it's been that long and a lot of good memories, new friends and of course, sneakers along the way.

I swear internet would be boring without NT.

Manila celebrates a decade of NT

NTPI held a mini-summit at Grappa's Greenbelt last night to commemorate Niketalk's 10th year.

I won't lie. I'm stoked that the folks I didn't want to see didn't show up. LMAO.

NTPI goin' down

Sad to say but NikeTalk (NT) Philippines has fallen off big time. It used to be full of fresh sneaker info back in the day. Now, it's rare to find useful information anymore. All you have are noobs flaunting their supposed Nike contacts while showing of their revolving collections*, posers who talk shit and ask questions a lot but never really buy any sneaks, and professional resellers who have stuff sitting on eBay for way over a year now.

Save for some of the OG members (circa 2005 and earlier), everyone else is just crap now. These are just some of the reasons I kill time lounging at the General and Sports forums instead.

*For the uninformed, revolving collectors buy whatever new shoe model or colorway comes out but sells other shoes to finance the purchase. That way, they boast of having the sick new releases (photos included) but they don't have a picture of all of them together.

First love never dies

We always remember our first. First impression. First date. First love. First kiss. First time.

This one started it all for me way back in 4th Grade (1990-91). This was my first ever pair of Nike Air sneaks. I even had to buy them pre-owned from a friend.

Air Max 90 Laser Blue (original colorway)

Once Nike re-released them recently, albeit some minor changes, I just knew I had to give back some retro love.

Air Max 90 Vivid Blue (Retro colorway)

Indeed, first love never dies.

Sneaker surprise

Got into so much trouble (and hassle) getting these babies over the weekend. You have no idea.

The sneaker game

I've always been fascinated with sneakers. I remember back in fourth grade I got my first ever pair of Nike Airs. They were the Air Max 90 in the white/blue colorway. My first Jordans were white/maroon VI's in fifth grade. I had Charles Barkley's Air Force Max and Air Max CB94 during sixth and seventh grades respectively. My mom got me one pair a year and that was it.

Just very recently, I've become what I never intended to be, albeit temporarily. Sneakerheads out there will probably know what I mean. But for the rest of you, your guess is just as good as anyone else's.

Hyperdunk McFly: The Philippine Launch

We went to Nike Park Bonifacio High Street last night to participate in the Hyperdunk Supreme McFly edition raffle hosted by Nike Philippines. The shoe, which was inspired by Michael J. Fox's character Marty McFly from the Back to the Future film trilogy, is limited to about 350 pairs worldwide. Fifteen pairs were raffled off last night to lucky participants. Too bad none of us won.

These sneaks are worth about USD 1.5k in the black market. Retail price in Manila was Php 6995. That's a pretty awesome deal for those who won the raffle. For the rest of us, we can either forget about it or shell out Php 60k for a pair on Ebay.

Be Legendary

Some say it ain't about the shoes...

I say otherwise.

Air Jordan XX3

According to various reports (from both confirmed and unconfirmed sources), this will be the final Air Jordan in the prestigious numbered collection.

Because of this, they are releasing this Titatium Blue colorway in limited numbers. Only 23 stores in the US will have them, with each getting 23 pairs. It's being sold at US $230 retail. It should fetch at least quadruple that amount in the black market. Hypebeasts will sure pay more than that.

The other colorways are scheduled for general release in February.

The Philippines will also be receiving 23 pairs, dropping at the Nike Park in Bonifacio High Street tomorrow afternoon. Because of its limited nature, the folks at Nike Philippines are holding a raffle for the chance to purchase these babies for a staggering rape price of Php 14995 (US $365).

Are these worth 15k (plus all the trouble and hassle that goes along with trying to cop it)? You be the judge.

Zoom BB

It's rare that I buy shoes at retail price (or anything near it). Plus I usually don't get basketball shoes not named Jordan. However, I couldn't help but ogle at the Air Zoom BB (white/navy/carolina colorway) when I finally saw them firsthand. I thought I'd better pick up a pair while they're available. I've slept on other shoes and I ended up kicking myself in disgust when I couldn't find them anymore.

Got them at 10% off. Fair enough. They're simply beautiful.

Jordan XX2

Since recovering from my ACL injury, I've gone back to not only playing ball, but buying basketball sneaks as well. Had to stop buying during the time I was out.

I've copped three pairs so far since my return last May. None are better than Jordan XX2's I got last night though. Didn't like the black colorway but I had no choice since the white ones were not available. Was kinda forced into getting them because of my friend's 50% off anything more than 30 days old. I didn't want to leave the store empty handed.

I could've gotten the white ones at some other store at full retail (Php 9,195) but these black joints were too hard to resist at half-price.

I don't like the color, but I'll deal with it.

Too little, too late

For the nth time this year, I missed out on another pair of shoes. For the past several days, I've been contemplating on getting these white/pink Air Max 90's online (at finishline.com).

After sleeping on them for consecutive nights, I finally decided on ordering them today. So I logged on and they aren't fuckin' available anymore.

Tangina.
