Flushed out

A couple of weeks after it devastated Manila and other nearby provinces, Typhoon Ondoy did what no one could ever do before. It cleared most, if not all, informal settlers or squatters away from public and private properties.

It wasn't a pretty sight but it is a wonderful thing. They are one of the major reasons why our drainage and sewerage systems get clogged and our waterways are polluted. It was high time nature delivered a strong, yet unfortunately, deadly message.

I hope they don't go back or else they're in for another lethal awakening.
